Book with EricaClinical expertise.
Lived experience. Both.
Erica Woodward is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the founder and Clinical Director of Pure Intention Services, and an Associate Faculty member at the IU School of Social Work. She specializes in neurodevelopmental assessment, neurodiversity-affirming psychotherapy, and consulting — bringing diagnostic authority and a whole-health lens to every area of her work.
What sets Erica apart is that her expertise isn't only clinical. As a late-identified AuDHD clinician, she understands the experience of going through life with an unrecognized neurodivergent profile — the masking, the exhaustion, the relief of finally having language for something you've always felt. That lived foundation shapes everything she does.
"I see you as a human first. I hope you see me the same way — because that's where real care begins."Erica's approach is person-centered at its core. She creates a relaxed, conversational environment where clients don't have to perform or explain themselves from scratch. She draws from a range of evidence-based frameworks and adapts her approach based on what actually works for each person's brain and life.
How Erica works
with clients.
Erica integrates multiple therapeutic frameworks — not because it's trendy, but because no single modality fits every brain. She draws from the approaches below and tailors each session to what her client actually needs that day.
She is also trained in state-recognized observational modalities for both autism and ADHD assessment — allowing her to conduct comprehensive neurodevelopmental evaluations for adults who have never been formally evaluated or who need an updated adult assessment.
The human behind
the clinician.
Erica is a mother of four — what she lovingly calls the "Woodward Whiplash" — a wife to an Army Veteran, and the proud human of three cats and a dog. If you know how wonderfully chaotic a neurodivergent family can be, then you know.
As a transracial adoptee and late-identified autistic and ADHD woman, Erica's personal journey is deeply woven into her professional identity. She didn't find her way to neurodiversity work by accident — she found it because she needed it herself, and realized how many others did too.
Outside of work, Erica practices what she preaches around self-care: spending time with friends, exploring new places, learning, and leading with humor and empathy. She genuinely believes in being part of the village — for her clients, her community, and the next generation of neurodivergent people who deserve better systems than the ones she grew up in.
